WYLDLIFE

WyldLife’s philosophy is the same as Young Life’s – that solid youth ministry does not start with a program but with adults who are concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in“WyldLife is the middle school element of Young Life, an international, non-denominational ministry to teenagers.  Young Life’s vision is that “Every adolescent will have the opportunity to meet Jesus Christ and follow Him.” their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship. But, because middle school kids are at a different developmental stage than high schoolers and need different things, we make a subtle delineation between the two. WyldLife has been used as the primary model for middle school ministry at OLM since August of 2005.  WyldLife’s evangelistic approach and ability to meet 7th and 8th graders where they are provides us with a great oportunity to lead the younger teens deeper into their Catholic faith and keep them connected to their parish community.  It is especially helpful in support of our Confirmation program.
WyldLife is for all 7th and 8th graders and meets Every Sunday Night at 5:30 for Youth Mass. 1-2 Fridays a month for WyldLife Club, held in the gym from 7:00-9:00PM.For various Social Nights throughout the year such as laser tag, bowling, Dave & Buster’s, etc. Not to mention other great events that may come up throughout the year such as WyldLife Camp, Retreats, and Lock-Ins! WyldLife Club is a high energy, fast-paced, interactive, and unpredictable gathering for 7th and 8th graders held 1-2 times a month on a Friday night.    The purpose is to have safe fun with lots of friends and also learn more about your faith while doing it. The WyldLife Youth Minister in collaboration with the WyldLife Leadership Team – a group of adult and young adult volunteers in the parish with a specific gift for bringing Christ’s message to 7th and 8th graders.  Also a part of WyldLife Leadership are a team of Jr. Leaders, 11th and 12th graders selected for their mature faith and leadership qualities.
